Overview

Orbit moves money for businesses that can't afford to wait. Their flat logo worked on a pitch deck and died everywhere else — in the app, in the launch film, in every piece of video the marketing team needed to make. Skillsquad built them a motion identity: a liquid-metal 3D system that carries the brand through idents, transitions, loaders and loops.

The engagement covered concept, 3D look development, a master ident, a transition library, app motion assets and a launch-film grade — plus motion guidelines strict enough that the brand stays coherent when someone else animates it.

02

The Challenge

Fintech brands live or die on a contradiction: they must feel fast and feel safe at the same time. Orbit's static identity could do neither in motion — the marketing team was cutting launch videos around a logo that simply appeared and disappeared, with no signature moment anyone would remember.

Worse, every vendor animated it differently. Without a motion grammar, the brand was fragmenting across every screen it touched. Orbit didn't need a logo sting; they needed a physics — a way the brand moves that is as recognisable as the mark itself.

03

Strategy

Strategy: money in motion. We built the identity around physics-based liquid metal — a material that reads as heavy and trustworthy in stills, and fast and fluid in motion. The contradiction the brand needed, solved in a single material.

Everything was designed audio-free first, because most views happen muted. The ident works as a 1.5-second sting, a 6-second seamless loop for ambient screens, and a family of transitions that let editors cut the whole launch film in the brand's own language.

Trust is heavy. Speed is light. Liquid metal is both.

Creative Direction

Direction: dark chrome, macro physics. Deep black surfaces, a single electric-blue charge, and liquid forms rendered so close you can feel the surface tension. References came from mercury, watchmaking and long-exposure light trails — objects that move with precision.

Pacing follows an orbital logic: slow gravitational pulls that resolve into sudden, decisive snaps. The brand never drifts; it arrives. Easing curves were defined mathematically and locked into the guidelines so the motion feels engineered, not decorated.

Design System

  • Ink#0A0A0B
  • Paper#F4F3EF
  • Amber — reserved#FDB813
  • Ion blue — project tint#5B8CFF
  • Display — Space Grotesk. Tight tracking for titles and end cards; type always lands after the motion resolves.
  • Body — Inter. For product UI copy and captions — the numbers must stay legible at speed.
  • Type in motion — reveals on the snap, never during the pull. Physics first, words second.
  • Master identThe 1.5-second sting — liquid pull, orbital snap, lockup. Every Orbit video opens or closes on it.
  • Loop system6-second seamless loops for ambient screens, event walls and app backgrounds.
  • Transition wipesTwelve liquid transitions so editors can cut an entire film in the brand's own language.
  • Render pipelineLook-dev to final in a locked pipeline — consistent metal, light and easing across every asset.

Final Execution

The system shipped as a complete motion toolkit — master files, editable templates and guidelines — so Orbit's in-house team and future vendors animate the brand the same way. The launch film cut entirely from the transition library became the proof that the grammar works.

  • Master 3D ident and lockups
  • 12 liquid transition wipes
  • App splash screens and loaders
  • Launch film grade and cutdowns
  • Social motion templates
  • Motion guidelines and easing specs

Results

Results are measured against client KPIs and published with permission. For Orbit, that means launch-film completion rates, brand recall in follow-up research and adoption of the ident across product and marketing.

The identity was designed to give Orbit a signature moment — the kind of motion people recognise with the sound off, three seconds in, on any screen.
